Trade Delegation to Vietnam
6 Day Visit to HANOI and HO CHI MINH
6 - 11th April 2008 -in concurrent to 18th Vietnam Expo –2008
(organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka)

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka is organizing a Business/ Trade delegation to Vietnam. The President of the National Chamber of Commerce Mr D . Eassuwaran will lead the delegation and HE the Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Vietnam will be associating with the Chamber delegation throughout the Tour. The 18th Vietnam Expo 2008 is scheduled to be held in Hanoi from 9th to 13th April 2007, which is an annual event, organised under the Ministry of Industry & Trade of Vietnam in co-operation with other stakeholders.

This Trade Fair is an important trade promotional event of Vietnam for the year 2008, and aimed at creating favourable conditions for local and foreign enterprises and trade organisations to build up business partnership, expand markets, import and export activities and to showcase their new products & services.

Vietnam has become an emerging market with potential consumable goods and services, specially following the Vietnam’s recent accession to the World Trade Organisation(WTO )

As a result there will be favourable conditions for Sri Lankan products with reduced import tariffs under WTO regime and other bilateral trading arrangements. There is a growing purchasing power creating a good market for foreign consumable products.

Vietnam Expo 2008 will be a good opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to explore, the Vietnamese market and build up business opportunities, for joint ventures. The Chamber delegation is expected to meet several Important Trade Chambers, prominent Buyers/Manufacturers/ Producers/ Importers / Exporters& Govt Departments , as arranged by the Sri Lankan Embassy .Vietnam being an emerging vibrant economy who are seeking rapid development , are keen to establish trade links with reputed, established and quality enterprises and SriLankan Enterprises can gain considerable advantages in this regard.

The importance of Vietnam in the eyes of world community is evident by the tourist arrival in Vietnam from European, East European American & Asian countries topping 4 million during the past year. The foreign investors have shown keen interest towards Vietnam to establish business ventures and trade operations. The FDI (foreign direct investments) received by Vietnam so far has topped USD 40 billion an impressive foreign investment.

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in association with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Hanoi, is organising a Sri Lankan trade/ business delegation to HO CHI MINH and HANOI in concurrent to the Vietnam Expo 2008 in April. The trade delegation is expected to leave during the 1st week in April 2008.
