Coir Pots are made out of coconut husk fibers and bound together by natural latex as bonding agent to produce pots of various sizes. Due to biodegradable property of natural coir pot eliminates possible damage to roots in the process, as they can be planted directly in the ground. Unlike containers with impermeable walls, coir pots do not cause deformation to the roots. They can be used as temporary containers for future transplanting. Coir pots are prominent in horticultural centers to plant seedlings, and to propagate small plants in tissue culture techniques. They are also very popular among nurseries due to the convenience of replanting without removing the pot .When plants are grown in a Coco Coir Pot; the roots quickly penetrate the pot walls. Contact with the air stops the roots from growing, root buds start to appear and secondary roots start to develop throughout the pot. This phenomenon is known as "aerial root pruning". The volume of the pot is used 100% by a dense network of root hairs of the plant. In containers with impermeable walls, a few very long roots use all the area around the pot. Advantages of coir pots • No root binding, allowing the roots grow right through the coir or coco fiber pots and are air pruned. Air pruning of the roots occurs once they grow through the walls of the pot, therefore other smaller roots develop as well. There is no root twirling, no root bound plants, no need to manipulate the root ball before planting to help it grow, and therefore no root shock. Once planted in the ground, air pruned roots grow again, and robust root growth has been seen after just 10 days! • Alternative to plastic and peat pots being 100% natural and environmentally friendly (PH neutral).Coir pots can be used along with Coco Discs as a readymade potting media for seedling in nurseries. • The coconut fiber or coir pots are planted with the plants. Therefore seedling can be transplanted to the soil along with the pot itself causing no roots damages or any shocks during transplanting. These pots are ideal for delicate plants that are difficult to extract. • Loss of root disturbance results continuous growth over the newly established field. • Plant roots will grow through the post walls, which will help for a strong root system. Coir Pots holds more water and saves water efficiently reducing cumbersome gardening for the planters.
