Coir Fiber Pith or Coir Pith is a by product of fiber extraction process which has been continued for more than hundred years in Sri Lanka. Coir Pith has being accumulated over the years as heaps in coconut growing areas in Sri Lanka.

But the unique qualities of Coir Pith as a plant substrate have been identified and established by now. Therefore, commercial use of Coir Pith in agriculture was started in 1980s. It is rapidly increasing all over the world today.
