Foundry Sub-sector

Upgrading of the technologies in the Foundries in order to set up modern foundries that can produce high quality of metal and metal products i.e iron castings, high alloy steels etc. Eg. Castings for households, agricultural machinery and equipment, Agro-processing Industry, Railway transport, construction machinery and equipment, Engine replacement and castings, machine tools, Electricity Industry, Industrial spare parts, fans ,room air conditioners, refrigerators ,small engines and metal furniture.   Investments can also be made in fabrication subcontracting for many products.

Cutlery, General Hardware and Hand tools

There is a large and growing local market for several types of hand tools and genera i.e Balance scales and weights, Hand and Sledge Hammers, Pick and other axes, Wheel barrows, Spades and shovels, Ordinary and other nails

Electric Motors, Generators and Transformers

Battery re-charging machines, air -cooled and oil-cooled arc welding sets, diesel electric generators, power stabilizers, amplifiers and small capacity air compressors are also manufactured on a small scale. A good potential exists here for investments.

Bodies of Motor Vehicles and Trailers

Manufacture of bodies for motor vehicles includes  the building of steel bodies of buses, lorries and trailers and light commercial vehicles such as pick-ups.

Pumps, Compressors, Taps and Valves

Increased demand for water pumps for use in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, water distribution and construction. An increase in demand for pumps will necessitate availability of taps and valves.

Special incentives are given to enterprises that invest not less than US$150,000. The benefits granted are 5-year tax holidays followed by another 2 year of concessionary tax. In addition to fiscal incentives, capital goods imported during the project establishment period are free of customs levies. All raw materials imported are duty free for export oriented companies.
