Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) plays a dynamic role in the development of the industrial sector. It is the key Ministry responsible for promoting industrial development in the country within the wide policy framework of Mahinda Chintana spelt out by the government. This Ministry which is the policy formulating entity for the industrial sector has taken several initiatives to increase the industrial sector performance.
CBI - Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries - is an Agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The CBI contributes to sustainable economic development in developing countries through the expansion of exports from these countries. CBI has worked for several years in Sri Lanka providing market intelligence on the European market, coaching exporters to become sustainable exporters to Europe and strengthening the services for exporters of Business Support Organizations like the EDB.
The International Trade Centre is a United Nations Agency and implementing agency of the World Trade Organisation. ITC's mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition-economy countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions and policymakers. The organisation strives to strengthen the international competitiveness of enterprises in developing countries and transition economies, to develop the capabilities of trade service providers to support exporters and support policymakers in integrating the private sector into the global economy.
