Saudi World Trade Fair

and Trade Delegation to Saudi Arabia

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Saudi Arabia and Riyadh Chamber of Commerce will organize Sri Lanka's participation for the first time at the 6th Saudi World Trade Fair from 20th to 24th May 2002, which will be followed by a Sri Lankan Trade Delegation to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 25th to 27th May 2002.

A wide range of consumer and industrial products and services are exhibited at this Bi-annual International Trade Fair. The Saudi World Trade Fair is the leading general trade fair in the Middle East. It had accommodated 119 exhibitors (local and international) At the last fair conducted in the year 2000. 19 countries had participated as exhibitors representing a cross section of Asian, Middle Eastern, Far Eastern, EU, American and African regions and there were nearly 10,000 visitors.

 

Saudi Arabia with a total population of approximately 22 million and with an annual purchasing power of US$ 17.4 billion, imports 94% of her requirements from all over the world. 

  Fashion and beauty products 

Ready to wear clothing, Leather goods, Costume jewellery, Footwear, Fashion accessories, Mother and baby products.

  Furniture and interiors           

Furniture and furnishing, Home textile and carpets, Garden furniture, Household goods.

  Leisure and toys                     

Toys and games, hobbies and musical instruments, Leisure clothing, Sports wear, Luggage and travel accessories.

  Food and food technology     

Fresh, canned and dry food, Health and natural food, Tea coffee and beverages, Confectionery and chocaltes.

  Giftware and handicraft          

Other potential products/services will also be considered depending on their suitability for the market.

It is proposed to select 8-12 companies for this fair. The estimated cost of participation per company of approximately Rs.383000/- covers stall rental (9 sq.mts.) and stall construction charges, accommodation, airfare, freight and clearance of exhibits. The EDB will provide financial assistance towards the cost of stall rental and stall construction charges for two small and medium scale companies. The other selected companies will have to bear the full cost of participation. Short listed applicants will be interviewed by a selection panel. 

Application should be forwarded to the Director Marketing, SLEDB on or before 4th March 2002, on the prescribe forms available at the Marketing Division of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and at the following provincial offices.
