50th Anniversary: Sri Lanka - Japan Diplomatic Relations

Sri Lanka SINGLE COUNTRY EXHIBITION

TOKYO, JAPAN

OCTOBER 1 - 4 2002

A Sri Lanka Single Country Exhibition will be held to coincide with the celebration of the 50^th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.  

The purpose of this exhibition is to further develop business relations with Japan particularly by promoting Sri Lanka’s exports to Japan. An investment promotion seminar will also be held on 2^nd October 2002 at the same venue viz JETRO Akasaka Exhibition Hall. 

This exhibition will be organized by the Export Development Board in collaboration with the Dept. of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

  Publicity for the exhibition will be given by JETRO to attract business visitors.

The other events that will take place concurrently to celebrate the 50^th Anniversary includes a Sri Lanka Food and Cultural Festival, a Gems and Jewellery Fashion  Show, Tea Promotional Activities and a Sri Lanka Film Festival at the Hilton Tokyo from 27^th September to 6^th October 2002.

 The Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan will undertake a comprehensive publicity campaign to promote the entire programme. 

A maximum of 30 Sri Lankan manufacturers/producers and exporters in the following product sectors will be selected to participate at the exhibition.

                   Tea in value added forms and herbal teas 

                   Coir products

                   Cut flowers and foliage

                   IT & Software services

                   Electronic products and components

                   Ceramic, Porcelain ,Terracotta and Granite products (tableware, tiles, ornaments etc.)

                   Rubber  and plastic products

                   Gems & jewellery

                    Apparel & textiles

Companies which apply for participation at this exhibition may also be provided the opportunity of joining the business delegation for the Investment Promotion Seminar which is organized by the Board of Investment.
