Introduction
The Sri Lankan toy industry soft and wooden, is a comparatively new
sector, which has been identified as an area with a good potential
for export. In the recent past many Sri Lanka entrepreneurs have begun
venturing into the production of toys for export purposes. With the
high standard of skills inherited from our traditional arts and craftsmanship
combined with the availability of modern machine capacities and raw
material (such as plantation timber) both wooden and soft toys made
in Sri Lanka has found it’s way to some of the most prestigious
sales outlets of the world over. Sri Lanka which turnout eye catching

Ltd, other organizations like the Sri Lanka Standard Institution and
CISIR. They also assist with obtaining other certificates. The factories
have their own quality control staff.
Supply Position
There are nearly 80 manufacturing units engaged in exports. Presently
Sri Lanka exports toys to the value of about US$ 25 million annually.
The soft toys are produced using modern machinery and industrial production
techniques. The factories that put together these lovely toys are
fully equipped with the necessary technology and adhere to international
safety standards. Soft toys are subject to stringent quality checks
from cutting to finishing-stage. The use of eye/nose attaching machines

The wooden toy industry in Sri Lanka is an established industry with

manufacture of wooden toys. Rubber wood is come from plantation in
Sri Lanka and has been accepted in the International market as an
environment friendly wood. The fact that Sri Lankan crafts-persons
have inherited a natural talent for excellent painting and carvings
skills, and are able to create colourfully designed toys and produce
exquisite and intricate workmanship has been a plus point to the toys
industry.
