KAHATAGAHA GRAPHITE LANKA LTD

The state graphite corporation of ceylon was established in 1971, after the nationalization of the graphite industry. On this occasion the three mines of Kahatagaha, kolongaha and walakatahene were grouped in to a single entity, was called kahatagha kolongaha mines. The above corporation was renamed as state mining and mineral development corporation (SM & MDC) in 1979. The above mine was privatized under restructuring program of the industry and again renamed as Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka Limited (KGLL) in 1992. Now this organization is fully government owned public limited liability company registered under the companies act no 07 of 2007 and operates under the ministry of industry and commerce
