Noriko San
A fascinating sight of Mount Fujiyama which is a volcano could be had from Noriko San’s house in Kamakura City which is Japan’s ancient capital. It was towards Fujiyama Mountain that Noriko’s mother was taken in a box (coffin) when she was five years of age. Noriko continued to watch the mountain hoping for her mother’s return. However, she was badly hurt by the arrival of a stepmother who came holding hands with her father from the direction of that mountain. Being disgusted over that bitter experience she came to her grandfather’s residence at Yachiyo at the age of six. Her only friend while growing up under her grandfather’s care was Suki San. Suki San dies in an accident and gains rebirth as Noriko’s child. This story narrates the series of events surrounding Noriko’s life in a most fascinating manner.
