KHIARD JEWELLERS
Khiards Jewellers was established in 1922 near the natural harbor of Trincomalee in Ceylon (During the British Empire). Khiards mainly dealt in gemstones and handcrafted jewellery, selling them to the ships docking at the port. Khiards is a family name, one which initially originated from the Galle Fort, in Galle, located in the south of Sri Lanka. From Trincomalee the family soon moved business to the capital Colombo. With the second generation of Khiards entering the family trade, the enterprise evolved into jewellery manufacture and retail by fully utilizing breakthrough advancements in jewellery manufacture and taking pride in the masterful craftsmanship of in-house goldsmiths.
