    The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), with the assistance of the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kenya, and Sri Lanka Automobile Components Manufacturers Association (SLACMA) proposes to organize Sri Lanka’s participation at the Auto Expo Kenya 2024 to be held from 03rd to 05th July 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Auto Expo Kenya is the premier automotive event in East Africa that is chosen by global manufacturers and exporters as the precise platform to cater to the market of the millennium - Africa. This leading trade exhibition for automobile, truck and bus parts, equipment, components, accessories, tools, and services continues to bring world leading manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to the most important emerging market region in the world. The 2023 event was participated by 30 counties and more than 4,800 trade visitors.

    OBJECTIVES:
    To enhance the international visibility of Sri Lanka Automobile Industry, gain knowledge on market trends, new products, competitor intelligence, latest technology available and to establish business contacts with Automobile Parts vendors across the African Region.

    • Relevant service providers of Automobile Industry

    COST OF PARTICIPATION:
    The participants have to bear the full cost of participation. EDB may consider providing assistance towards part cost of the stall subject to the availability of funds.

    Applications should be made on the prescribed form available at the Industrial Products Division (6th Floor), EDB.  Applications could also be downloaded from the EDB website www.srilankabusiness.com under “Announcements”. Duly completed applications should be sent to reach the Director, Industrial Products, EDB, before 20th May 2024. Selections will be done by an interview panel appointed by the EDB.

  • Sri Lanka’s participation at the 22nd Medi Pharm Expo Vietnam 2024 09 May 2024

    The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Vietnam, proposes to organize Sri Lanka’s participation at the 22nd Medi Pharm Expo Vietnam 2024 to be held from 01st - 03rd August 2024, Hochi Minh City, Vietnam.

    Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry is one of the highly growing markets in the region as a result of increasing economic growth, rising per capita income, and also due to the aging population. Vietnam is importing around 60% of its pharmaceutical demand which presents a significant opportunity for market entry.  Sri Lankan companies are yet to tap into this market.

    The Medi Pharm Expo Vietnam is a renowned healthcare exhibition, featuring over 400 exhibitors and attracting 9,300 trade visitors from various countries. Notably, 70% of visitors comprised of importers and distributors who are crucial for forging business partnerships.

    The Expo will provide an opportunity for the exhibitors to gain priceless exposure to get leads that will turn into orders, develop key relationships face-to-face, increase awareness and knowledge on the products, new trends and new technologies used in the industry.

    OBJECTIVES:
    To showcase Sri Lanka’s strengths and capabilities as a potential sourcing destination for quality and reliable pharmaceutical products and to enhance Sri Lanka’s Pharmaceutical exports to Vietnam market.

    FOR WHOM
    Applications are invited from Pharmaceutical Exporters / Manufacturers of following categories;

    • Medicine: various kinds of Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, Pharmaceutical Processing etc.

    COST OF PARTICIPATION:
    The participants will have to bear the full cost of participation. EDB may consider 50 % cost sharing towards space & construction of the stall for a few companies subject to the availability of budgets.

  • Sri Lanka Pavilion at Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo – Dubai 2024 03 May 2024

    The EDB proposes to organize a Sri Lanka Pavilion in an area of 180 sqm at the Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo – Dubai Exhibition from 18th - 20th November 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Center in Dubai, UAE.

    Organic & Natural Products Expo–Dubai Trade Fair is considered one of the largest organic & natural trade shows that provides the opportunity for producers/exporters/buyers of organic & natural products to meet at a single place to exchange Business, Knowledge and Technology. The objective of organizing a Sri Lanka pavilion is to enable Sri Lankan companies to display and promote Sri Lanka’s organic & natural products and to understand the market trend in the MENA region.

    INVITATION TO EXHIBIT:
    Applications are invited from the organic & natural products processors/exporters of the following product categories, adhering to international standards and having the capacity to cater to the international market.

    • Food & Beverages (Fresh, dehydrated & preserved fruits & vegetables, herbs, spices nuts, fruit juices, health drinks, honey, super foods, tea, coffee, vegan products)
    • Coconut Based Food Products (Desiccated coconut, coconut milk, cream & powder, coconut/king coconut water, flavored coconut chips)

    COST OF PARTICIPATION :
    EDB may consider providing assistance towards cost of stall space and construction for the selected SME companies. All other costs such as airfare, accommodation, internal travel, cost of exhibits etc. have to be met by the participating companies.

  • Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) 03 August 2023

    The EU Commission by the implementing regulation - (EU) 2022/144, has entered the name ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ to the register of Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications (Ceylon Cinnamon PGI) with effect from 2nd February, 2022.

    The ownership and custodianship of the “Ceylon Cinnamon” is vested with the Export Development Board (EDB), in accordance with the Cabinet Memorandum approved by the Cabinet Ministers in year 2009.

    The Export Development Board (EDB) is empowered to issue the license for Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) Mark pursuant to the implementing regulation - (EU) 2022/144, to the eligible stakeholders of Ceylon Cinnamon value chain who implement a control plan that complies with the stipulated GI specifications (Annexure I - Eligible stakeholders of Ceylon Cinnamon value chain).

    The ‘PGI Mark” can be displayed only on value added Ceylon Cinnamon Packs including Cinnamon cut quills, Cinnamon powder, and Cinnamon leaf oil & Cinnamon bark oil containing 100% Pure Ceylon Cinnamon grown, processed, and manufactured in Sri Lanka.

    The Cinnamon stakeholders who comply with the following eligibility criteria are invited to forward their applications to EDB to obtain license to use PGI mark for above mentioned Ceylon Cinnamon products.

    Eligibility Criteria;

        •  Member of the Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Protected Geographical Indication (ACCPGI). If you are not a member of the association, please forward your application to ACCPGI (Annexure-II – Notice of ACCPGI).
    OR
    Contact the Department of Export Agriculture (DEA) office relevant to your district http://www.dea.gov.lk/contact-dist/ to obtain membership of ACCPGI.

        •  Implementation of three levels of control in the supply chain following the guide books published referring to Ceylon Cinnamon GI specification (self-control, internal control, and external control)-Annexure-III Guide books for growers /processors/ manufacturers and exporters.

        •  Recommendation from the competent authority who act as external controller (Department of Export Agriculture) as a PGI farmer, processor, manufacture or exporter.

    Application Guidelines;

    The Cinnamon value chain players who fulfil the above three eligibility criteria are requested to submit a duly completed application form by e-mail / post to - Director/Export Agriculture Division No.42, Nawam Mawatha, Colombo-02 or through email to [email protected] along with the recommendation from the Department of Export Agriculture.
