When you register as an exporter on EDB website, it allows you the opportunity to access a whole range of services that EDB provides, two of which include Exporters Directory and eMARKETPLACE.
The Trade Facilitation & Trade Information Division implements and monitors this registration scheme. The objective of the scheme is to maintain an up-to-date data bank which assists in the formulation of national export policies and serve as a guide for foreign buyers to reach local suppliers.
The exporters should fill the specific form to register for the Directory of Sri Lankan Exporters and forward to the Trade Facilitation and Trade Information Division. Annual update of information could be done using the same form.
www.srilankabusiness.com – the official website of EDB, is Sri Lanka's window to the world, displaying a range of the country's export products and services. This venture brings together in one place suppliers, buyers, shippers, logistics and finance together with market and product information.
The system is empowered with highly secured software that enables online purchase and is open to buyers from anywhere in the world who can connect to the Internet.
Only Sri Lankan Exporters are allowed to register and sell online on eMARKETPLACE.
Special Notice on EDB Exporter Registration Scheme
Aside from these, scheme for Registration of Exporters (Regulation) of the EDB has been Revoked by the Extra Ordinary Gazette Notification No. 2118/60 - dated April 11, 2019
Purpose of this new Gazette is to facilitate exporters to expedite the export process by reducing multiple registrations in different Institutions and improve the position of Sri Lanka in the Ease Of Doing Business (EODB) Index Ranking.
However, as decided by the Management, EDB maintains a “Voluntary Registration” at the EDB and this is purely for the “Internal” purposes (identification, monitoring, Trade fair participation, other EDB Assistance Programmes, etc.) only
