The workshop is designed for EU exporters, potential exporters, and members of the Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Protected Geographical Indication (ACCPGI), with the primary objective of equipping participants with essential knowledge on the packaging of Ceylon Cinnamon products, particularly for the European market. This initiative is timely and critical, as the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is set to be enforced this year. Compliance with these updated rules is not only a regulatory requirement but also a strategic necessity for maintaining market access, safeguarding brand authenticity, and strengthening consumer trust. By focusing on the latest EU packaging and labelling standards, the workshop will help exporters and stakeholders understand how to align their practices with evolving sustainability and transparency expectations in Europe.

ශ්රී ලංකා අපනයන සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය (EDB), කර්මාන්ත හා ව්යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන අමාත්යාංශය (MOI&ED) සමඟ එක්ව "ශ්රී ලංකා එක්ස්පෝ 2027" (Sri Lanka Expo 2027) ජාත්යන්තර වෙළඳ ප්රදර්ශනය සඳහා අන්තර්ජාලය ඔස්සේ ලාංකික අපනයනකරුවන්ට ප්රදර්ශකයන් ලෙස ලියාපදිංචි වීමේ අවසාන දිනය 2026 ජූලි 31 දක්වා විවෘත කර ඇත. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ අපනයන විභවය විදහා දැක්වීම සහ ගෝලීය වෙළඳ හවුල්කාරිත්වයන් ශක්තිමත් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගත් මෙම ප්රමුඛතම වෙළඳ ප්රදර්ශනය, 2027 ජනවාරි 14 සිට 17 දක්වා කොළඹ BMICH හිදී පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතය.
මෙම ප්රදර්ශනයට සහභාගී වන දේශීය අපනයනකරුවන්ට ගෝලීය ගැනුම්කරුවන් සහ ආයෝජකයින් 1,500 කට අධික සංඛ්යාවක් හමුවීමට අවස්ථාව සැලසේ. මීට අමතරව, විභව ගැනුම්කරුවන් සමඟ පෙර සැලසුම් කළ ව්යාපාරික හමුවීම් සඳහා ද ප්රදර්ශකයන්ට අවස්ථාව හිමිවේ. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ අපනයන ආර්ථිකයේ විවිධත්වය විදහා දක්වන පරිදි ක්ෂේත්ර 25ක් ඔස්සේ ශ්රී ලාංකික අපනයනකරුවන් සහ අපනයන විභවයක් ඇති සමාගම් සඳහා ප්රදර්ශන කුටි 650ක් වෙන් කර ඇත.
කාර්මික නිෂ්පාදන යටතේඇඟලුම්, රෙදිපිළි සහ විලාසිතා, රබර්, ප්ලාස්ටික් සහ රසායනික නිෂ්පාදන, මැණික් සහ ස්වර්ණාභරණ, ඉංජිනේරු සහ මෝටර් රථ උපාංග, බෝට්ටු සහ නැව් තැනීම, සමුද්රීය සේවා, විදුලි සහ විද්යුත් නිෂ්පාදන, ඛනිජ සහ ඛනිජ ආශ්රිත නිෂ්පාදන, තෑගි භාණ්ඩ, ජීවන රටා සහ අත්කම් නිර්මාණ, ඖෂධ සහ වෛද්ය උපකරණ, මුද්රණ සහ ඇසුරුම්කරණ ක්ෂේත්ර ඇතුළත් වේ.
කෘෂි කාර්මික නිෂ්පාදන යටතේතේ, කුළුබඩු සහ සාන්ද්රණ, පොල් ආශ්රිත නිෂ්පාදන, මුහුදු ආහාර / ආහාරයට ගත හැකි මත්ස්ය නිෂ්පාදන, සැකසූ ආහාර සහ පාන වර්ග, ආයුර්වේද, ශාකසාර සහ රූපලාවන්ය නිෂ්පාදන, කැපූ මල් සහ පත්රිකා, විසිතුරු මසුන්, පලතුරු සහ එළවළු යන ක්ෂේත්ර ඇතුළත් වේ.
අපනයන සේවා ලෙස තොරතුරු හා සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණය / ව්යාපාර ක්රියාවලි කළමනාකරණය (ICT/BPM), සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය, කාර්යෝපාය සේවා (Logistics Services), ඉදිකිරීම් සහ පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්තිය, සුව සේවා සහ සෞඛ්ය සේවා, සහ වෙනත් සේවා ඇතුළත් වේ.
ශ්රී ලාංකික අපනයනකරුවන් සහ අපනයන විභවයක් ඇති සමාගම් සඳහා මේ සඳහා අයදුම් කිරීමට හැකියාව ඇති අතර, ප්රදර්ශන කුටි සංඛ්යාව සීමිත බැවින් සුදුසුකම් ලත් ප්රදර්ශකයන් තෝරා ගැනීමේ ක්රියාවලියක් (screening process) සිදු කරනු ලැබේ. රටේ ආර්ථික අභිවෘද්ධිය උදෙසා කෙරෙන මෙම ජාතික ප්රයත්නයට දායක වන ලෙස සහ 2026 ජූලි 31 ට පෙර ලියාපදිංචි වන ලෙස අපනයන සංවර්ධන සණ්ඩලය සියලුම අපනයනකරුවන්ට ආරාධනා කරයි.

The EU Commission by the implementing regulation - (EU) 2022/144, has entered the name ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ to the register of Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications (Ceylon Cinnamon PGI) with effect from 2nd February, 2022.
The ownership and custodianship of the “Ceylon Cinnamon” is vested with the Export Development Board (EDB), in accordance with the Cabinet Memorandum approved by the Cabinet Ministers in year 2009.
The Export Development Board (EDB) is empowered to issue the license for Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) Mark pursuant to the implementing regulation - (EU) 2022/144, to the eligible stakeholders of Ceylon Cinnamon value chain who implement a control plan that complies with the stipulated GI specifications (Annexure I - Eligible stakeholders of Ceylon Cinnamon value chain).
The ‘PGI Mark” can be displayed only on value added Ceylon Cinnamon Packs including Cinnamon cut quills, Cinnamon powder, and Cinnamon leaf oil & Cinnamon bark oil containing 100% Pure Ceylon Cinnamon grown, processed, and manufactured in Sri Lanka.

The Cinnamon stakeholders who comply with the following eligibility criteria are invited to forward their applications to EDB to obtain license to use PGI mark for above mentioned Ceylon Cinnamon products.
Eligibility Criteria;
• Member of the Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Protected Geographical Indication (ACCPGI). If you are not a member of the association, please forward your application to ACCPGI (Annexure-II – Notice of ACCPGI).

Contact the Department of Export Agriculture (DEA) office relevant to your district http://www.dea.gov.lk/contact-dist/ to obtain membership of ACCPGI.
• Implementation of three levels of control in the supply chain following the guide books published referring to Ceylon Cinnamon GI specification (self-control, internal control, and external control)-Annexure-III Guide books for growers /processors/ manufacturers and exporters.
• Recommendation from the competent authority who act as external controller (Department of Export Agriculture) as a PGI farmer, processor, manufacture or exporter.
Application Guidelines;
The Cinnamon value chain players who fulfil the above three eligibility criteria are requested to submit a duly completed application form by e-mail / post to - Director/Export Agriculture Division No.42, Nawam Mawatha, Colombo-02 or through email to [email protected] along with the recommendation from the Department of Export Agriculture.
