The EU Commission by the implementing regulation - (EU) 2022/144, has entered the name ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ to the register of Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications (Ceylon Cinnamon PGI) with effect from 2nd February, 2022.
EDB in collaboration with DEA facilitate to conduct the AGM of the association as it is a partial requirement of GI.
The Cinnamon stakeholders who comply with the eligibility criteria, ‘PGI Mark” can be displayed on value added Ceylon Cinnamon Packs including Cinnamon cut quills, Cinnamon powder, and Cinnamon leaf oil & Cinnamon bark oil containing 100% Pure Ceylon Cinnamon grown, processed, and manufactured in Sri Lanka.
Eligible stakeholders of the Ceylon Cinnamon value chain/applicants should be a member of the Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Protected Geographical Indication (ACCPGI). In this regard ACCPGI has established and the Annual General Meeting of the Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Protected Geographical Indication (ACCPGI) was held on 04th August 2023 in the Hotel Kingsbury.
