Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with Import Promotion Desk (IPD) Germany has developed a long-term strategy for Developing Export Oriented Women Entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. Phase I, of this project is focusing on the Capacity Building of Export Oriented Women Entrepreneurs in the Agriculture sector.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), IPD assists companies from Sri Lanka in entering the European market, so that they are enabled to increase their innovative capacity, generate added value and improve their competitive position internationally. By these means IPD contributes towards strengthening the economic structures in Sri Lanka.

This programme consists of two main areas

1. Develop Capacity of the Women Entrepreneurs to enter the European market
2. Identify and handhold suitable women entrepreneurs for the IPD sourcing mission in Europe.

For Whom
Applications are invited from

• Women-led businesses with a minimum of 50% women ownership
• With Manufacturing facility of Agri based products
• With own processing facility and minimum food safety certifications (HACCP, ISO 22000 preferable)
• Wish to enter the European market or have Less than 5 contacts in the European market
• Wish to participate in European trade fairs

Agriculture and Food Ingredient sector Application

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), as the host institute of the ITC SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub, invites eligible women-led businesses to participate in an exclusive two-day in-person training programme on “Branding and Digital Marketing.”

This training is organized under the ITC SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, generously funded by UK International Development, and is designed to empower women entrepreneurs with essential skills to enhance their brand presence and leverage digital platforms for global success.

Programme Details

• Date: 13^th and 14^th February 2025
• Location: Colombo
• Trainer: Delivered in English by an ITC expert

Eligibility Criteria

• Minimum 25% ownership of the company by a woman (only women entrepreneurs are eligible).
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Familiarity with computers and smartphones.

Phase I, of this project focuses on the Capacity Building of Export Oriented Women Entrepreneurs in the ICT-BPO sector.

This programme consists of three main areas;

1. Develop the capacity of Tec based women Entrepreneurs to enter the International market
2. Knowledge sharing and mentoring from industry experts in ICT/BPO top exporters
3. Identify and handhold suitable Tec based women entrepreneurs for the selected international trade missions/events organize by the EDB

Applications are invited from the Women Led Businesses in Technology Products (Software)/ Technology as a service
