The Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with EDB Southern Province office, successfully conducted a workshop on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to expand SME businesses into international markets at the Grand Rockland Hotel in Matara.
The session, led by Mr. Uditha Bandara, Founder and CEO of Blue Chip Asia, demonstrated how AI can accelerate and transform export businesses. Fifty participants, including exporters and development officers from the Southern Province, actively engaged throughout the program.

The workshop introduced exporters to practical AI tools for export operations, emphasizing how automation can reduce costs by handling routine, time-consuming processes. This allows businesses to redirect their focus toward strategic objectives and market development.

Participants gained hands-on experience with AI technologies, learning how these solutions can enhance their competitiveness in international markets. The interactive format enabled attendees to experiment with tools they could immediately apply to their businesses.
The initiative reflects EDB's ongoing efforts to modernize Sri Lanka's export sector by equipping SMEs with digital capabilities necessary for global competitiveness.
