Sri Lanka’s export sector began 2026 on a strong momentum, recording a robust year-on-year growth of 13.71%, signaling renewed momentum in external trade performance. According to statistics released by Sri Lanka Customs, together with estimated export figures for gems and jewellery, petroleum products, and services, total export earnings reached US$ 1,532.6 Mn. The encouraging performance reflects broad-based growth across key export sectors, improving global demand conditions, and sustained national efforts to enhance export competitiveness at the outset of the year.
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB) successfully organized a Market Exposure and Capacity Building Programme in parallel with BIOFACH 2026, held in Germany from 09th to 14th February 2026.

BIOFACH, being the world’s largest and most influential international trade fair dedicated to the organic sector, provides a vital global platform for countries to promote their certified organic products and strengthen their presence in international markets. Recognizing this importance, Sri Lanka will participate in BIOFACH 2026, to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from 10th to 13th February 2026, with a strong national presence organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the National Organic Control Unit (NOCU).
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) had a high-level meeting with Mr. Hung Chiu Wah Derek, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to Hong Kong, on 06th February 2026, during his visit to Sri Lanka. The 09th edition of the Boat & Marine Show organized collectively by the Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka (CMISL), Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development was held successfully from 30th January – 01st February 2026 at Port City, Colombo which showcased the country’s capabilities in marine tourism, recreational boating, yachting and boat building which are mainly focused on exports.
