The National Packaging Centre (NPC) of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently conducted an awareness workshop on “Packaging of Food Products” for exporters and potential exporters, with the aim of enhancing their knowledge on packaging solutions that meet both local and international market standards.

The NPC, established under the EDB, serves as a national platform for the promotion and development of the packaging industry in Sri Lanka. It supports a diverse group of stakeholders including exporters, manufacturers, designers, SMEs, women entrepreneurs, students, and research institutions by fostering collaboration with government agencies and industry partners. The NPC plays a pivotal role in strengthening the packaging sector and supporting the sustainable growth of agricultural exports.

The awareness session, held at the EDB premises, was specifically designed to educate participants on the critical aspects of food packaging. The key objective was to raise awareness on best practices in packaging food items, thereby improving product competitiveness in both local and global markets.

The session was conducted in collaboration with industry experts from CMC Engineering (Pvt) Ltd and an independent packaging consultant. Over 80 exporters and potential exporters participated in the workshop.
