2025-10-27

In its continued efforts to build a dynamic and competitive export sector, the second ExpoScaleUp Knowledge Sharing Session for Batch 2 SMEs was successfully held on 23rd October 2025 at Ramada by Wyndham, Colombo 3, under the Sri Lanka Export Excellence Initiative (SLEEI) 2025. The session, organized by the EDB in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and the European Union (EU) under EU's regional initiative ‘Accelerating Climate Smart and Inclusive Infrastructure in South Asia (ACSIIS)', offered hands-on insights on topics ranging from branding to quality compliance and export documentation.

The event brought together 25 selected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) currently developing export marketing plans under the ExpoScaleUp programme with the guidance of an international consultant from Netherlands and EDB officers. This session follows the success of the first batch conducted earlier this year. It aims to further enhance the export readiness and competitiveness of SMEs. The session provided participants with valuable insights into key aspects of export business management and market development, with a focus on practical strategies for strengthening international competitiveness.

These sessions were conducted by leading industry professionals representing both the public and private sectors, offering a rich blend of knowledge and practical experience. The SMEs actively participated in discussions, exchanged experiences, and refined their export strategies through direct interaction with facilitators and peers. The hands-on knowledge shared during this session plays a vital role in equipping Sri Lankan SMEs with the tools and confidence required to compete successfully in global markets.

This initiative not only strengthens the competitiveness and resilience of Sri Lankan SMEs, but also contributes to the national vision for inclusive, export-led growth. The success of this session underscores the importance of collaborative partnerships and continued support from development partners such as the EU and IFC.

Moving forward, the ExpoScaleUp initiative will continue to serve as a vital platform to connect Sri Lankan SMEs with global markets, driving long-term growth, innovation, and sustainability in the international trade landscape.
