The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, has launched the “Go Global” Online Awareness Programme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at equipping women-led entrepreneurs and SMEs with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to compete and succeed in international markets. The programme commenced on 30th October 2025 and will run over the next four months, with sessions conducted online from 7.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. to accommodate the schedules of women entrepreneurs.

Reflecting on the programme, the Chairman and the CEO of the EDB, Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe highlighted the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka’s economy. “Women entrepreneurs are a vital force in driving innovation and economic growth. The ‘Go Global’ programme equips them with practical tools, expert guidance, and exposure to international best practices, helping them unlock new opportunities and achieve long-term success,” he said.
Speaking on the collaboration, Mr. Jananga Piyadasa, President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, noted that the club takes pride in supporting women entrepreneurs through this initiative. He emphasized that the partnership with the EDB brings together professional expertise and practical guidance, enabling participants to strengthen their businesses, improve competitiveness, and confidently access international markets.
The programme leverages the EDB’s expertise in export promotion and the Rotary Club’s professional network, ensuring that participants gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical, actionable insights. Participants are expected to enhance financial literacy, managerial capabilities, marketing and branding strategies, leadership skills, and strategic decision-making, positioning their businesses for sustainable growth and international market success.
