Sri Lankan ICT companies Successfully Completes Participation at Japan IT Week 2026

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, is pleased to announce the successful completion of Sri Lanka’s second participation at Japan IT Week Spring 2026, held from April 6th to 10th at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

At the vibrant “Sri Lanka Pavilion,” ten Sri Lankan ICT companies showcased cutting-edge solutions spanning artificial intelligence, IoT, software development, IT-enabled services and related digital innovations. Their strong presence attracted significant interest from global investors, industry leaders and potential partners, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s positioning in the global technology and innovation landscape.

This second participation marks an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the Export Development Board and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, initiated in 2024 to enhance Sri Lanka’s ICT sector presence in the Japanese market. The initiative supports approximately 30 ICT/BPM companies, including SMEs and startups, through tailored business coaching, market intelligence and targeted matchmaking opportunities with Japanese industry partners.

Prior to the main exhibition, the delegation actively participated in a series of structured activities, including business briefings, site visits, seminars and networking sessions.

On 6th April, the program commenced with a briefing session conducted by Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, followed by a visit to H1O Hamamatsucho, a shared office facility developed by Nomura Real Estate Development. This visit provided valuable insights into Japan’s advanced business infrastructure and support ecosystem for foreign companies.

The day concluded with a B2B Matching Event held at the Minato City Industry Promotion Centre, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan and the Export Development Board (EDB). The session enabled Sri Lankan companies to directly engage with Japanese counterparts and explore potential business partnerships and collaboration opportunities.

On the following day, the delegation visited Tokyo Innovation Base, gaining exposure to Japan’s vibrant startup ecosystem and innovation-driven collaboration landscape. This was followed by participation in the AI Expo at the Tokyo International Forum, where participants explored emerging artificial intelligence trends and technological advancements shaping the Japanese market.

Delegates also attended an international study seminar conducted by FRONTIER Co. Ltd., focusing on effective B2B engagement strategies in Japan. The day concluded with a networking session at Shibuya Startup Support, further strengthening connections with Japan’s startup and innovation community.

A key highlight of the program from 8th to 10th April was the active participation of Sri Lankan ICT companies at Japan IT Week 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight. The delegation showcased their capabilities at the Sri Lanka Pavilion, engaged in numerous business meetings with global stakeholders and participated in the official opening ceremony, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in the Japanese ICT market.

A networking reception held in Ginza further facilitated interaction among Sri Lankan, Armenian and Pakistani delegations, fostering regional collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Throughout the program, Sri Lankan companies demonstrated strong commitment by participating in all scheduled activities, including exhibitions, site visits, seminars and networking events. These engagements enabled them to build meaningful connections, gain valuable market insights and identify promising business opportunities in Japan.

Japan IT Week 2026 successfully supported 10 Sri Lankan ICT companies in entering the Japanese market, generating over 300+ leads, 100+ business meetings and strong networking outcomes across all participants. The programme created significant future business potential estimated at over USD 2.0 million, along with multiple partnership and joint venture opportunities. Overall, it served as a strong market exposure and relationship building platform, strengthening Sri Lanka–Japan ICT collaboration and laying a solid foundation for future business conversions.

This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s ICT sector presence in the Japanese market, supporting long-term collaboration, knowledge exchange and export growth.

Enhancing Sri Lanka–Japan ICT Partnership

Participation in one of Asia’s leading technology exhibitions has further elevated the global presence of Sri Lanka’s ICT sector while strengthening the growing digital partnership between Sri Lanka and Japan.

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders, including Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan, JICA consultants, Japanese partners and the participating companies for their continued support and commitment.

Such collaborative initiatives pave the way for a more innovative and connected future, while unlocking new global opportunities for Sri Lanka’s ICT industry.
