Sri Lanka’s footprint in global boats and shipping sector may be smaller, but Lankan exports in it continue to surge in strong numbers. As a result Sri Lanka is ambitiously positioning for $ 200 million boats and shipping exports by 2022.
The Export Development Board (EDB), the apex body for exports in the country, will launch its provincial office in Jaffna tomorrow in a bid to encourage domestic enterprises to invest in export industries and facilitate regional entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities.
The Export Development Board (EDB) announced that ‘wellness tourism’ would be added to the export basket from this year onwards, setting an initial $ 2 million target for the sector.

The Sri Lanka Printers Exhibition organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Printers (SLAP) was inaugurated yesterday at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) under the patronage of Minister of Special Assignments Dr. Sarath Amunugama and SLAP Chairman Chandralal Jayawardana. The EDB organised a wellness tourism seminar with Dr. Franz Linser, international wellness tourism expert from Austria on 27 February at the EDB. Around 70 participants from the Ayurveda resorts, Spa centers, Private hospitals, travel companies and tourism consultants participated this seminar along with some government officials overlook this sector.
