As a strategic step towards developing a mechanism to address challenges in the export value chain, the Export Development Board (EDB) has established a Trade Facilitation Task Force, which held its second networking session today (October 14) at the Export Development Board.
The event was attended by Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Export Development Board, Mr Erandika Dissanayaka, Acting Director General of Export Development Board, Ms. Kumuduni Mudalige, Acting Additional Director General (Development), government officials nominated by respective institutions to the Trade Facilitation Task Force, and other officials including directors of the Export Development Board.
The Task Force comprises representatives from 38 public sector institutions that facilitate international trade. Its primary objective is to identify operational challenges faced by exporters and find effective solutions, with the aim of addressing these challenges in the shortest possible time.
Through this networking session, the Export Development Board seeks to streamline trade processes, improve export efficiency, and foster collaboration among institutions to support the country's economic growth. By minimizing trade barriers and enhancing cooperation among all government institutions, exporters will be empowered to increase their competitiveness in global markets.
This collaborative effort is expected to provide exporters with better access to information, resources, and solutions to optimize their operations, ultimately generating higher export revenue for the country.
