Continuing its efforts to foster a dynamic, export-oriented SME sector across Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) successfully conducted an ExpoNavigator Awareness Session for the Uva Province on 10th March 2026 in Badulla. The programme targeted SMEs representing diverse sectors in the Uva Province and witnessed the participation of around 100 entrepreneurs eager to explore export opportunities.
The ExpoNavigator initiative is a key component of the Sri Lanka Export Excellence Initiative (SLEEI) 2025, implemented in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Union (EU) under the regional programme Accelerating Climate Smart and Inclusive Infrastructure in South Asia (ACSIIS). The programme seeks to create inclusive, climate-smart export development across all nine provinces.
The Uva province session brought together industry experts, technical institutions, and regional SMEs to create a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and practical engagement. Presentations were delivered by representatives from key public and private sector organizations, covering critical topics such as export quality standards and certification requirements, innovative packaging and branding strategies, export procedures and regulatory compliance, and the integration of ESG and and climate-smart practices into business operations.

A highlight of the session was a special presentation by Mr. Nalin Priyantha, Founder and Managing Director of Kiyota Coffee Company (Pvt) Ltd, a successful exporter identified through the New Exporter Development Programme of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB). His inspiring entrepreneurial journey and practical insights encouraged participants to adopt innovative and sustainable business models, while confidently pursuing opportunities in global markets.

Participants also received hands-on guidance on identifying potential export markets, accessing advisory and financial support services, and navigating compliance frameworks essential for successful international trade. Interactive discussions allowed entrepreneurs to clarify their concerns and better understand the actions required to become export-ready.
This session provided us with valuable clarity on our level of export readiness and clearly highlighted the critical areas we must strengthen to compete confidently and sustainably in international markets,” remarked a participant representing an SME from the Uva Province.

With the successful completion of the Uva province programme, EDB continues to expand the ExpoNavigator awareness series nationwide. Through these provincial sessions, EDB envisions building a competitive, resilient, and globally connected SME base that actively contributes to Sri Lanka’s export-led economic growth.
