On 6th March 2026, 60 women entrepreneurs from Panadura and surrounding areas participated in a comprehensive Branding and Digital Marketing Training Programme, organised by the EDB through the SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub and supported by the Divisional Secretariat, Panadura. This programme is part of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board’s ongoing efforts under the Export-oriented Women Entrepreneurship Development in Regions initiative, aimed at empowering women-led businesses, enhancing their competitiveness, and encouraging them to explore international markets.
The training programme offered participants practical knowledge and hands-on guidance on key topics such as brand development, social media marketing strategies, website optimization, search engine optimization (SEO) basics, and content creation using AI tools. Through interactive sessions, women entrepreneurs learned how to build strong and recognizable brands, enhance digital presence, effectively promote products and services, and strategically position their businesses for potential export opportunities.

Organized in close collaboration with the Divisional Secretariat, Panadura, the programme ensured strong local engagement, enabling participants to network with peers, share experiences, and gain insights from experts. By focusing on both digital marketing skills and export readiness, the programme provided a platform for women-led enterprises to take actionable steps toward participating in international trade, expanding customer reach, and increasing competitiveness in global markets.

The session also highlighted the importance of women-led businesses in driving Sri Lanka’s export growth, equipping participants with tools to transform their enterprises into sustainable, export-ready ventures. This initiative demonstrates EDB’s commitment, through the SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub, to empower women entrepreneurs across the country by providing targeted capacity-building programmes, fostering innovation, and supporting their journey toward global markets.

With similar programmes planned across other regions, the EDB continues to ensure that women entrepreneurs nationwide have access to the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to grow their businesses and actively contribute to Sri Lanka’s export-led economic development.
