Sri Lanka's Apex Organisation for Export Promotion
The ‘Ceylon Spice’ master brand was officially launched yesterday, as Sri Lanka’s latest national branding attempt for the spice sector, with Government aiming to achieve an export target of $ 880 million from the ‘Spices and Concentrates’ sector by 2022.
The Export Development Board will launch Sri Lanka’s country-of-origin trade mark for the spices sector today (25th September, 2019) at JAIC Hilton, Colombo. The mark supports growers, processors and manufacturers by helping them clearly identify their products as Sri Lankan-made, and informs customers and consumers that all significant parts, produce, processing and products are of genuine Sri Lankan origin.
The 23rd Presidential Export Award Ceremony (PEA) organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) was successfully held on 19th September 2019 under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Sri Lnaka at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo with the participation of the large number of exporters. The award winners were presented a prestigious PEA Trophy and a Certificate & they have the privilege to use the “Award Logo” as a marketing tool for a 3 year period.

Texworld Paris, the undisputed leader when it comes to sourcing for fabrics, components, trimmings and materials for the clothing industry will showcase six Sri Lankan garment manufacturers at the September 2019 edition this week in Le Bourget, Paris.
Stakeholders from several government agencies and private sector representatives gathered for a two-day workshop to finalize the research report; “e-commerce readiness of Sri Lanka” which has been developed by the Commonwealth Secretariat (COMSEC), UK along with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB). The workshops were held on 10th and 11th September 2019 at EDB and it was carried out by Ms. Opeyemi Abebe, Trade advisor, COMSEC,UK and Mr. Abhishek Kumar, Senior Consultant, Grail consulting services, India.
The EDB’s endeavour of promoting women in exports took a new turn when it established a dedicated Women-Entrepreneur Call in 2017. Over 800 women entrepreneurs across the country are registered with the Women-Entrepreneur Call of the EDB and either export directly or contribute to the supply chain of exports.

With the guidance of Regional Development Division of Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB), the Central Provincial Office of the SLEDB organised and conducted two training and buyer link up programs for handicrafts under the One Village One Product (OVOP) concept with collaboration of Divisional Secretariat Office Panvila and M/s Peoples Lanka Ltd. on 14 May and 20 June at the Panvila DS Division in Kandy District.
